Monique was one of several female students who had an affair with Roy Minard during his time as a university professor when she was a sophomore. She would later say he seduced her with wine and poetry during office hours but pretended not to know her if he saw her on campus.
After the 1995 murder of Holly Richardson, another girl who'd had an affair with Minard, Monique was certain that he was guilty. When she was later questioned about her relationship with Minard in 2004 by Detective Lilly Rush, she noted that Minard had gotten a lawyer pretty quickly. When Lilly pointed out that was actually the smart thing to do, Monique simply responded that it seemed like the guilty thing to do to her.
