Born in New York on September 30, 1952, John Finn joined the Navy for a few years before he went into acting. Also, while getting his career started in New York, he worked as a limousine driver.

Before Cold Case, he starred in the short lived TV series EZ Streets. He also had recurring roles on the series Brooklyn South, X-Files and Dawson’s Creek, among many other guest appearances.

Finn has also had supporting roles in the films The Hunted (2003), Catch Me If You Can (2002), True Crime (1999), Turbulence (1997), Blown Away (1994), The Pelican Brief (1993), and Glory (1989).

After Cold Case, he has guest starred on NCIS, Blue Bloods and Suits.

Finn also directed the Cold Case episodes Wednesday's Women and The Runaway Bunny.
