Sonia Espinosa is a minor character from "Bombers". She was the mother of Carlos Espinosa. Their relationship was difficult to say the least.
Sonia worked three jobs so she rarely saw Carlos. She thought her son huffed paint because he stole money from her to buy the stuff. Sonia finally kicked Carlos out in 1982. He'd break back in on occasion to eat. Sonia then heard that he died after paint was sprayed into his mouth. She kept Carlos' things in a storage unit.
In 2010, Sonia worked as a motel maid but her hours got cut so she could no longer afford the unit. She looked through Carlo's things and it was was only then she found out that he was a graffiti artist, and regretted kicking him out into the streets. Sonia went to the cold case team to solve her son's murder. She gave them his black book, which they used to solve the case.
After Carlos' murder was solved, Sonia was finally at peace. The episode ends with her putting a flower where he lay dead, and seeing his ghost as he smiled at her and walked away. Don Bardwill and Gina Lopresi also help some kids spray paint Carlos' mural to his friend Leon nearby.
