Description[]
The team tries to determine if a homeless and severely delusional paranoid schizophrenic killed his former psychiatrist by arson in 2004 - before dropping out of college and fully losing his grip of reality.
Synopsis[]
October 12, 2004. Pete Scanell and his partner, named Exley, looks escaping somebody who are threatening their safety if they do not give up "The map". When Pete reaches the door outside Dr. Julia Ramierez's clinic, Exley is waiting for Pete by asking him if he gets "The Map". Pete tries to escape Exley and immediately rush into the clinic, but when he comes in, Exley immediately appears inside the clinic with Dr. Ramierez, and the doctor ask Pete to put on the headphones. After hearing the music. The scene is making a 180' turn, it is realised that what Pete saw previously is a delusion. A calm and friendly conversation between Dr. Ramierez and Pete can finally begins. The scene then turns that Dr. Ramierez's house was burst into flames, and her dead body was found inside the house. The detective filed the case as "Homicide-Arson".
In Present. The Philly Homicide prepares a gift basket to Jefferies, as he is recovering from the gunshot before. When Rush enters the lift with her gift, he meet with a Steve Wiegen, who is looking for a detective responsible for old cases. When Rush shows her role, Steve shares information about his roommate, Pete Scanell, who he met in college. Steve believes Pete has a high potential to be a great architect before his sudden disappearance. But recently, when Steve serves in a shelter for homeless person as a volunteer, he spots Pete is one of the shelter's guest, but he runs away before Steve can get him. However, Pete left a notebook that contains some shocking information after reading it. It contains a message: "Dr. Ramierez must burn"., that links to a murder-arson case in 2004, which one arsonist is convicted for the crime. So the police need to reopen the case to see if they convicted the wrong man.
