In 1978, she was acting as lookout while her boyfriend was stealing a car. Dawn witnessed Missy Gallavan get into a van owned by Joe Bosquay before she was found dead.
In 2008, Dawn is about to go to jail for robbery and she tells the cold case team what she witnessed to get a reduced sentence. It is unknown if this worked.
